In the summer of 2020 during the pandemic, I took a train from New Orleans to Chicago and then another train from Chicago to Elkhart, Indiana. I was for the most part alone. On the night that I arrived in Elkhart there was rain, and thunder and lightning. The train station in Elkhart is 100 years old and everything in it creaked with age. I had to wait a considerable amount of time in the old building waiting for a taxi. Not many taxis run in Elkhart after midnight. There is no ghost story to tell but if you ever take a lonely trip like this your mind will certainly create a few.
